Welcome the American Heroes Project Website!
Throughout our Social Studies units this year, we will explore the themes of liberty, freedom, and democracy. We will discuss why these terms are important (especially in times of conflict), as well as what it means to be an American Citizen. There have been many strong, compassionate, and brave citizens who have helped to transform our land into the democratic country it is today. Through this project, you will learn about one of these American Heroes and share with your classmates all that you have discovered.
What is a hero? A hero is a person of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his or her brave deeds and honorable qualities. Throughout this project you will explore these three essential questions through research and reflection about the American Hero that you select:
- What makes him/her an American Hero?
- How did this person make a difference in our country?
- How does this person inspire you to become a better American Citizen?
